Primer on CBO Scoring and Health Care Reform


The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has recently completed a set of preliminary analyses of the Senate Finance Bill, America’s Healthy Future Act of 2009 and H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act.  In these documents, CBO takes a look at the projected effects of each piece of prospective legislation on the national deficit and on the number of uninsured Americans over a time period ranging from Fiscal Year 2010 until Fiscal Year 2019, giving a ten year picture of each bill’s potential effects.  The purpose of this primer is to highlight some of the more significant differences and salient effects of each bill as shown by the CBO analyses.  To view the original documents, please visit the CBO website or click the links that follow after the outline provided below.
